Be a Worker for the Lord

An ant....
These little creatures and I are about to go round and round! It seems they keep finding their way into the house! I clean, and clean, and clean, but they are so diligent to find even just a small piece of food (and with a 2 year old in the house, it is bound to happen). God knew that because He created them and even mentioned them by name in His Word.
Proverbs 6:6-8 Go to the ant, you sluggard, consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores it provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.
and yet another one in Proverbs
Proverbs 30:34-28 Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise: Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer (and then it goes on to discuss coney's, locusts, and a lizard).

So what do we need to learn from these small, but extremely wise creatures? You have to WORK!! They work ALL time to ensure that they have food during all times of the year. Are we required to work?

"Working" may not have the same connotation to you as what it might be to an adult who is responsible for you (i.e. putting food on the table, providing shelter, etc). But, you may have a job! I know I did growing up and what a great experience it was for me!

What I want to focus on is, do you work for the Lord's church? What are some ways you can "work?" What about....

  • visiting the elderly or shut-ins (I know this might be hard if you can't drive, but get a group together to go)
  • writing a card to those who are discouraged
  • calling someone who is discouraged
  • helping with daily chores for someone who is ill or injured

These are just a few examples so I challenge you to come up with your own list and DO THEM!

I love Romans 12:11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

What better ways to keep your zeal going! AND, better yet, serving the LORD.

Be more like an ant today......
